Middle School 7/8 Development

Saco Bay Lacrosse and the TA Boys Lacrosse Coaching Staff are excited to offer some developmental practices for our 7th and 8th grade athletes this spring. The middle school schedule is pretty short and we would like to offer some additional practices to help prepare you for high school lacrosse. Our model is going to be 45 minutes of skills and drills and then 45 minutes of 7 v 7 scrimmaging. We are using the entrance money to enter this squad into the T-Moe Hellier Fest on June 7th at Wainwright Fields in South Portland where we will play 3 games. If we can find another team or two to scrimmage in the months of May or June, we will add this to our schedule!

$50, Sundays 5:30-7pm (at Hill Stadium) 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 6/1, and then the Hellier fest on 6/7.

Time and Location

The camp will be held on the campus of Thornton Academy from 9:15 to 11:15 Monday through Friday of April Break (April 21st-25th) for Boys Grades 3-8. The locations may change from day to day at Thornton Academy and will be posted.

Philosophy

The primary goal of the Southern Maine Lacrosse Camp is to increase each player's fundamental knowledge of lacrosse. All players will be exposed to proper fundamentals, techniques, and terminology used at the high school level. Individual attention will be given to each player and will be specific to their skill level.

Instruction

The camp will run for two hours during the mornings of April break. We will start with 15 minutes of warm-ups and stretching and then break into smaller groups. Each day, we will focus on a specific fundamental, such as passing and catching, dodging, ground balls, off-hand work, and transition.

Equipment

Each player is responsible for bringing helmets, sticks, gloves, shoulder and elbow pads, and mouth guards, as there will be some drills and games that include contact.

Registration

The cost of the camp is $125 dollars for the five days and includes a reversible pinnie. There will be a maximum of 50 players, and it is on a first come, first serve basis.
